UN International Holocaust Remembrance Day - January 2010
The Richard Fuchs Archive was invited to provide a musical interlude for the occasion in the Grand Hall, Parliament.
Jenny Wollerman, the Soprano and Richard Mapp, the Pianist performed three songs composed by Richard Fuchs.
In der Fremde, The Death Of A Child and Das Nightingal. (Generously sponsored by Denis and Verna Adam through the Adam Foundation) It was hosted by Hon Chris Finlayson, Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage and attended by the Prime Minister Hon John Key and other dignitaries.
The Documentary Channel New Zealand - November 2009
The Third Richard screened on the Documentary Channel - Sky TV New Zealand - on 7 November and screens again on 3 January 2010 at 1830 and 3 March 2010 at 2130.
The Third Richard in Karlsruhe - October 2009
The Third Richard screened at the Ständehaus in Karlsruhe, Germany on 28 October. The film was extremely well received and contacts were made for sales to educational institutions as well as entertainment media.
The Documentary Channel - September 2009
The Third Richard screened on Sky TV Documentary Channel on 20 September at 8.30pm.
Concert for Rabbi Lau - May 2009
On 24 May 2009 Rabbi Lau, the Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv visited New Zealand. The Zionist Federation held a dinner and concert which several dignatories attended including the Ambassador to Israel Yuval Rotam. The musical programme was exclusively Richard Fuchs, featuring members of the NZSO playing the 1945 String Quartet in E Major and the 1941 Piano Quintet in D Minor. The tenor, Michael Gray sang Auf Den Tod Eines Kinde, Erhorung, and In der Fremde. He was accompanied by Richard Mapp.
Concert - New Zealand Premiere Sold Out - April 2009
The 1932 String Quartet in D Minor had the New Zealand Premiere on Saturday 25 April 2009 at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre, Auckland, played by the Jade String Quartet. Gina Sanders, internationally acclaimed Soprano sung three Fuchs songs. http://www.ginasanders.net/ The concert was recorded by Atoll. CD's are available for sale. This was followed by a screening of The Third Richard. B'nai B'rith and Beth Shalom hosted the "evening devoted to the music and life of a lost composer..." in remembrance of the Holocaust and ANZAC Day. After the film, a question and answer session took place with a "kaffeehaus" German-style supper. The evening was a huge success. The Third Richard invited to Switzerland - March 2009
The Third Richard has been scheduled to screen in Basle, Switzerland on the 9th November to mark the anniversary of Kristallnacht 1938. Soni Mulheron, Richard Fuchs daughter has been invited by the Basle Jewish community to attend the evening. Richard's grandchildren Sarah and Danny also plan to attend.
Commercial CD - March 2009
Negotiations are underway for the production of a commercial CD of Richard Fuchs' chamber music by a major international label. At this stage it will probably include 1931 Piano Quintet in D Major, and the 1941 Piano Quintet in D Minor.
International opportunities for the film, The Third Richard are being pursued including European television channels and international film festivals.
The Archive is now a Charitable Trust - January 2009
The Richard Fuchs Archive Trust Deed was signed on 17th December, 2008, and was incorporated under the
Charitable Trusts Act 1957 on 6 January 2009. The Certificate of Incorporation number is 2200897.
